Humble Smile’s Community Health Workers are trained and remunerated by Humble Smile to serve the community from which they originate. Having an intimate understanding of the local language, customs, attitudes and practices, enables the CHWs to sensibly and sensitively integrate the interventions.

Akshata graduated with a B.A. in History and Marathi from Mumbai University and gained experience working in tuberculosis control. A supportive and dedicated young woman, Akshata’s passion for promoting health led her to her current position in the informal settlements of Kalwa outside of Mumbai.

Asha has a B.A. in social sciences from her native State of Uttar Pradesh. For the past 10 years she has been living in Bhaskar Nagar, Kalwa, working with youth. She feels passionate about her community health work and is committed to helping women, children, and their families in her community.
